Halloween and Christmas plate

Last week I received a fun box full of goodies and was challenged to make a craft.

I love a good challenge and I had so much fun doing making this.  I love it when I am able to use something for more than one holiday so I decided to make a double sided decorated plate for Halloween and Christmas.

One side is all Halloweeny

The other side is perfect for Christmas

Here is how I did it - Let's start with Halloween

Supplies Needed:
  • Charger Plate - Mine is 15 inches
  • Black paint
  • Two pieces of cute Halloween Scrapbook Paper ( I used My Minds Eye Blackbird paper)
  • Paint Brushes
  • Mod Podge
  • Trick or Treat words cut out with black vinyl
I painted the back side of the charger plate black

I went through my millions of scrapbook paper and found this cute scrapbook paper from My Minds Eye called Blackbird

Once the paint on the plate was dry I cut out a circle of one of the papers and Mod Podged it to the center -  Be sure to let dry.

Taking some super sharp scissors cut the design you want from your other piece of scrapbook paper and Mod Podge it to the plate.

Add some black vinyl that says Trick or Treat and once everything is dry seal over the top with some more Mod Podge.

I love how the Halloween side turned out!  Here it is on my mantle

Okay now for the Christmas side

Supplies Needed:
  • Charger Plate - Mine is 15 inches
  • Cute Christmas Scrapbook Paper ( I used paper from the Making Memories Twinkle collection)
  • Paint Brushes
  • Mod Podge
  • Merry Christmas words cut out with black vinyl
  • Buttons
  • Flowers (I used flowers from the Making Memories Twinkle collection)

I used the front side of the plate for this (I know obvious). I didn't paint this side because I thought the color went well my what I had in mind.  First I cut some scrapbook paper to go around the rim of the plate - this part was the biggest pain.  I had to use 2 pieces of scrapbook paper and trace and trim a bunch.  Once it was all figured out I mod podged the paper onto the plate.

Then I cut a circle that fit the middle and mod podged that in.

Than I cut another circle slightly smaller and glued it in as well

I cut a rectangle out of another piece of scrapbook paper mod podged it on and then added black vinyl that said Merry Christmas.

Once everything was dry I mod podged over everything to seal it.  I then added some pretty flowers to the bottom corner and some buttons to the rectangle piece of paper.  It is simple but I love it.  Since my Christmas decorations are not yet up I don't have a picture of it on my mantle
